This course is an exploration of historical barriers faced by under-represented groups and how organisations can recruit, retain and progress their diverse workforce.

Target Audience:

Managers, HR staff and recruitment specialists who wish to raise their awareness of positive action and the benefits it brings to organisations.

 

Aims:

To raise the delegates’ awareness of positive action and the benefits a diverse workforce will bring to your organisation. We will explore where positive action sits within the Equality Act 2010 and identify strategies, enabling organisations to recruit, retain and open up opportunities of progression for a diverse workforce.

 

Objectives:

By the end of the course, delegates will able to:

  • Identify what is meant by Positive Action.
  • Explore the use of positive action in matters of recruitment and employment and how it can be used by an employer to address under-representation.
  • Consider and deal with other forms of disadvantage within the workforce.
  • Recognize the difference between Positive Action and Positive Discrimination.
  • Determine which under-represented groups can be targeted within positive action strategies.
  • Explore historical barriers and discrimination faced by under-represented groups in the workplace.
  • Gain the knowledge to develop and implement successful positive action strategies including:
    • Recruitment
    • Progression
    • Retention
  • Identify solutions to manage positive action in the workplace.
