Meet each speaker

Booking one of our guest speakers provides a non-traditional training option. All the speakers at Breaking down Barriers have been carefully selected for their first-hand experience and knowledge of their subject areas which include gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, transgender, age, disability and areas of well being.

Organisations use storytelling via our guest speakers to effect change by sketching a vision and allowing people to connect on a deeper and meaningful level. It is a chance to engage with a diverse cross section of people which in turn helps to promote community cohesion.

As they share their stories delegates begin to understand some of the barriers certain sectors of the community face on an everyday basis because of difference such as stereotyping, less favourable treatment, discrimination and hate crime. When we combine speaker intervention with training we begin to break some of these barriers down.

How do they present?

Our approach is simple yet powerfully effective. With captivating styles our speakers create an atmosphere whereby people can feel relaxed and at ease to take part in thought provoking discussions and where sensitive issues can be reflected on in a safe environment.

As the speakers share their personal stories they teach the value of listening with empathy and this builds resilience in the listener.  Our speakers weave into the fabric and culture of organisations the understanding that each person has a unique value and should be treated with dignity and respect.

In breaking down the barriers created by fear, ignorance and discrimination, individuals are allowed to fulfil their potential – improving their effectiveness and the wellbeing of not only themselves but also their community.
