Persia began to meditate in 1970, 46 years ago, and this began a journey of self exploration into identity and perception; who we are and how we get to see the world. Over the years she’s worked with the Human Potential Movement, another approach to enhanced awareness, and has been writing and teaching from her understanding ever since.
Her shift of gender identity in the nineties gave her valuable insights into the set of ideas, beliefs, assumptions, expectations and more that create our gender identity, as woman, man, or something else entirely. This focus is now expressed in her work called Conscious Gender; becoming aware of the unconscious mindsets that create division and discrimination in our world. This begins with the primary distinction between women and men, but also different categories of gender, for example gay men, older women, trans men and disabled women.
