Sabera 

Sabera was born in Birmingham and brought up in Manchester. Her parents came to the UK from Bangladesh in the 1960’s. Sabera describes herself as a British, English, Bangladeshi and a Muslim Northerner. Sabera worked as a primary school teacher for ten years, five of those in Spain for the Spanish Ministry of Education. Sabera now works as a Diversity Trainer and assessor.

She speaks fluent Spanish and some Bengali. Most of Sabera’s family live in Manchester, Bangladesh and America. She has two English brother in-laws who converted to Islam.

Sabera talks about the challenges of being a British, Bangladeshi, Muslim, woman pre and post 9/11.
